Medical Marijuana Council

The Medical Marijuana Council provides a great deal of information on medical marijuana and studies that have been done regarding marijuana and it's effectiveness and safety with regard to various illnesses.  Most all information they provide is in layperson terms and is extrapolated from scientific studies to help the patient who is considering medical marijuana make a decision.

Philadelphia Proposes Decriminalization of Medical Marijuana

Philadelphia (the 6th largest City in the US), has put forth a proposed rule change to decriminalize marijuana for possession of under 30 grams (1 ounce is 28.34 grams).   According to news sources a Philly police spokesman said the Philly police officers will continue to make arrests as usual since it still isn't legalized, and leave the District Attorney's office to deal with it.

“We’re not going to stop locking people up … our officers are trained to do that. Whether or not they make it through the charging process, that’s up to the D.A. We can’t control that. Until they legalize it, we’re not going to stop.”

It seems  the Police Spokesman doesn't understand the purpose of the City's efforts at decriminalizing - to stop wasting time, energy, and resources making arrests for marijuana under 1 ounce.  Evidently he didn't get that memo.  Perhaps that is a good thing.  More evidence for the marijuana activists to point out in the future, that regardless of the rule changes the police don't follow the "spirit" of the law, and therefore full legalization should be enacted so there is no "spirit", or "common sense" to confuse the Philly police spokesman or officers.

Maybe Philadelphia could send their officers to Denver for marijuana police training.  HEY!  That's another whole industry that could be created.  Think of the jobs, and the money flowing into Denver.  As more states follow suit, think of the income potential.  Policing Marijuana 101.  Caring for Marijuana while awaiting trial 102.  Correctly weighing marijuana - how to properly remove stems, roots and plant matter - according to law 103.  Plant counting - what constitutes a plant? 104.

There are approximately 700,000 police officers in the US.  That's a lot of training and a whole lot of potential income Denver! ..... or maybe we could create an online course for them....
